Hello @beta14chan!
According to zdnet.com, these are the major cloud computing myths:
1. Cloud is the same as SaaS, grid and utility computing
The term "cloud computing" has been abused by anyone who want to make their service hip and attractive. To clarify things, cloud computing means using the service of cloud computing vendors who supply computing services to customers over the internet. These could be applications, infrastructure, storage and provision of development platforms and many others.
Saas or software-as-a-service is just a subset of the category because not all offerings are scalable. This mean some SaaS offerings are cloud but cloud is not SaaS.
On the other hand, grid computing is a networked cluster of heterogeneous and loose machines that work together to solve one major scientific or technical problem.
Utility computing refers to packaging of computing resources similar to that provided by water or gas companies. This means cloud can be purchased in a utility computing format but it is not predicated on the other.
Myth 2: Cloud computing will take over the world. Cloud is most likely to act as more of a complement instead of a replacement to systems at home.
Myth 3: You can use computing cloud services.
Market for cloud services is still only in its infancy and service providers may use a range back-end database that will end up with weird burdens if put together.
