What are some of the geographical characteristics of Antarctica?
I know Antarctica is covered with glaciers and that it's extremely cold there, so much that people really can't live there. I know scientists are there doing research. What are some other interesting geographical aspects of this area? Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!

Antarctica is completely covered in ice and can grow/shrink by 13% of it's total mass due to ice melting and refreezing. Antarctica can have winters that last up to 6 months because the pole are affected by the 22.2 and 24.5 degree tilt, so when the Earth rotates it doesn't rotate out of the shadows. Antarctica is desolate and has little evidence of supporting plant life, things that have been found are things like moss and frozen algae. The largest shelf is the Ross Shelf and spans 30kms.
