What are some of the best/scariest horror movies you've ever seen?

I have never seen a movie that has actually scared me in any way.
I like the Saw movies though. I'm into the whole slasher movies. :)

Name some good movies you've seen. :)
I really want to see a good Horror movie. :)

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The first Nightmare on Elm Street movie is scary ESPECIALLY the first time you see it:

Lake Placid is not scary, but HYSTERICALLY funny.

I have really enjoyed the Saw series. I also like hostel, but I remember the first time I saw the first Saw movie and didn't know what to expect or how far they would take things.

I'm a big fan of slasher movies but they are often so far fetched that they aren't actually scary. I think the true "scary" movies are the ones based on true stories simply because they could happen to anyone...

The strangers isn't too bad - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0482606/

I always recommend this, though it is one of those movies that is so bad it is good... if you have netflix you should check it out (don't actually spend money on it)... good times

Death Bed: The Bed That Eats - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0385639/

Ringu is absolutely terrifying to me. It's the Japanese movie that inspired The Ring. If you like horror, you should watch this.

This is so far the only movie listed that I haven't seen!
I've wanted to see it for so long, but my local movie store doesn't have it. I loved The Ring. I thought it was quite funny. :)
I'm definitely gonna watch this! Thank you.

The scene in the Sentinel (1977) where the supermodel's flashlight turns off and the creepy old man appears from behind the door and rapidly walks across the room and stands facing the corner. My left testicle has failed to re-descend since I first saw that scene.

The Exorcist. Hands down the greatest horror film ever made. While some people will tell you "oh it's not scary" (which may be true since I didn't really jump at all during it), its creepy and gets under your skin and sits with you for a long time.

And the sequel to the sequel Exorcist 3 is actually VERY good aswell (written and directed by the author of the original).

But avoid Exorcist 2, 4 and 4 (attempt 2). Absolute crap.

Forgot to mention, watch "The Version You've Never Seen" (sometimes called "the directors cut" which it isn't, it's more of an "authors cut" as its closer to what the author of the novel/screenplay thought the film should be) rather than the theatrical cut. It's much better in my opinion.

I only saw about 5 minutes of The Exorcist, but it looked really good. :)
