What are some of the best years for California Cabernet Sauvignon?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Out of the past twenty years the vintages that are considered the 'best' are:
1990
1991
1994
1997
2001
2002
2005
1992, 1995, and 1999 are also quite good. These were the years with the most ideal weather conditions (good balance of warm to hot days, cold nights with no rain/frost at vulnerable times for the vines or crop). Wines from these vintages will show good power, balance and the best aging potential. That being said, there is still a lot of 'charm' from some of the off vintages so they're still a worth a try if you can get them at a better price. The weather in california is a lot more consistent than Bordeaux, for example - there are really never any total disaster vintages.
