What are some of the best songs to play at a Wedding reception?

What do you think would be some great songs to have playing at a wedding reception? Do you think it is best to find more unique songs that basically fit the newly weds personalities, likes and tastes? Or is it better to stick with more of the classic romantic love songs, that you hear at most wedding receptions? What would you choose for this, and why?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

A good mix is my advice. You may still get old and traditional songs which may be favorites by newlyweds and a few modern songs that suites their taste. Most weddings I attended still play traditional songs at the start of the reception program but shifts to modern ones after lunch or dinner is served to foster a relaxing atmosphere after experiencing all the stress and pressure of having a "perfect" wedding ceremony. During our wedding, we chose a few songs by Jim Brickman and The Way You Look Tonight by Tony Bennett. We also had From This Moment from Shania Twain.

While I could just ramble off a bunch of songs, this is the BEST list I have ever seen at http://weddingpros.wordpress.com/2009/03/13/top-500-wedding-songs/. They took tons of lists from tons of sources, compiled them and sifted out the 500 best tunes from all of the lists. So it's not just someone's opinion, but an actual survey. Yes, definitely a great post. here's also another one here that is specifically First dance songs at http://www.getmarried.com/wedding-blog/2010/03/19/top-115-first-dance-wedding-songs/
