What are some of the best-reviewed or most-popular scanners for under $200?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If you are more budget conscious, I would also suggest you take a closer look at Epson Perfection V300 Photo, priced at a range of $90. Accordingly, "testers find that the V300 produces scans with very good color, clarity and quality, even on transparencies such as film and slides. For that purpose, it has a 35 mm film adapter with a six-negative or four-slide capacity."

M$The advantage of lower-priced scanners is usability: they are very easy to set up and involve little or no software. Also, a lower price does not mean a sacrifice in scanning quality.
Here are a few options:
Canon CS8800F Color Flatbed Scanner ranges from $149.99-$159.99 at various stores online. It has very high reviews
Epson (pictured below) also offers a low-price flatbed scanner. This model is has almost the exact same dimensions as the Canon unit. This scanner specializes in film, but still delivers quality scans in all other mediums. The price of this model ranges from $127.95-$143.99.

M$I do not know exactly if what you are looking for is a document/photo scanner or a barcode scanner since HP makes them both. If you meant to ask for a HP barcode scanner then you can get it for as low as $149.99 at http://www.amazon.com/HP-EY022AA-USB-Barcode-Scanner/dp/B000FTSMC4/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1286692718&sr=8-12. It is a USB barcode scanner and is durable. In fact, it has been highly rated by customers who have bought it.

For document/photo scanners, HP G4010 ScanJet Photo Scanner by HP is positively rated and you can get it for under $200 ($148.98 Free Standard Shipping), check it on here: http://www.amazon.com/HP-G4010-ScanJet-Photo-Scanner/dp/B000LZEN8Y/ref=sr_du_2_map?ie=UTF8&qid=1286692718&sr=8-2. It can scan up to 8.50 in x 12.25 in sizes documents or images. But if I were you, I would certainly go for all-in-one if I’d only get that size of scanner because I can even get all-in-one's even for under $100. Why not look for larger scanners that can scan larger documents like 11.7" x 16.5" sizes. See this one here: http://www.amazon.com/Mustek-Express-A3-USB-Scanner/dp/B000WKSZ5A/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1286693555&sr=1-2. It’s not HP’s but I’m sure it is a good option if you really just want a flatbed scanner. You can also get it for under $200. There are more you can find with search here online. What do you think?

Veho VFS-008 has some good reviews and seems pretty solid for the cost of it
