What are some "must have" iPhone apps worth buying?

I'm going to be getting an iPhone during summer. What are some iPhone apps I should put on it?

Thanks! I appreciate!
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

My favorite game, JellyCar, is actually free. The purpose is just to drive a car to the exit of each level, but almost everything has soft-body physics, and it has some very interesting levels.

Cube Runner is a free game based on steering a ship through a field strewn with obstacles, and it is very addicting.

Another good game is Enigmo, which is a physics-based game based on getting water into buckets through elaborate contraptions. It costs 99 cents.

Lightsaber is amusing and free. It's pretty self-explanatory.

If you like Tower Defense, TapDefense is a good free TD game. If you're willing to pay, FieldRunners and Crystal Defenders are excellent TD games, except they cost 4.99 and 7.99 respectively, which is kinda steep as apps go, but worth it if you're into TD.

There's a free Facebook app, free AIM app, free Google Earth, free Pandora app, and a choice of free Twitter apps (or a 2.99 one for more functionality).

Shazam is a free song identifier. I. e., you can hold it up to a playing radio, and it'll tell you what song is playing.

Those are mostly the apps I have on my phone.

Yeah, that's true, although I have used it for actual music recognition a couple of times. It's free, though, and for that every once-in-a-while usage/showing-off, I like having it.

While I appreciate the technology behind Shazam, I can't say I've ever actually "needed" it. I think I've used it maybe 3 times, and each time it was to show somebody "Hey, check out this cool thing an iPhone can do."

Thanks for JellyCar, I had not seen that one.

These are a few of my favorites.

Tweetie if you use Twitter
Shazam you can hold up to any song and it will identify the name of it
Pano allows you to take panoramic photographs
Ocarina - the musical instrument of the iPhone
TouchPhysics - challenging game
Amateur Surgeon
Aqua Moto
Super Monkey Ball
Beer Pong

A lot of people will probably say iShoot, but I'm not a fan of that one. It held the top spot in the app store for a very long time.

I usually keep an updated image of all the games I currently have loaded on my iPhone ( http://tinyurl.com/bvy3kg ). If you have any questions about the ones I have let me know.

I just came back from a technology event and saw a presentation for Four Square. Keep your eye out for it. They are coming out with a pretty cool iPhone application.

3. AP Mobile News Network
4. Ocarina
5. Wikipanion
6. Adrenaline Pool Lite
7. Instapaper
8. NetNewsWire
9. iTalk
10. FakeCall

The apps I find myself regularly using are:
Tiptap - Tip calculator & lets you split up bills among multiple people
Shazam - As everyone has said before, identifies songs on the radio
MySpace & Facebook - The respective social networks apps
Urbanspoon - A great app for local restaurant reviews & directions
Topple - A fun shape balancing game
Drinks Free - A collection of shots & mixed drinks, great for parties
AllRecipes - A wonderful app full of recipes that you can sort by type, main ingredient, and cooking time. Very useful at the store when trying to figure out what to make for dinner
Live Poker - Multiplayer free poker app, very addicting

File Magnet for transferring files to Mac/PC. There are a lot of these programs, I think this one is the easiest to use.

iCatchall - about 20 small utilities in one program, so they only take up one screen slot.

Guitar Toolkit - tuner. metronome, chord chart, fretboard

Tap Defense - free and as good as any game on the iPhone,

Downhill Bowling - about halfway between bowling and motorcycle racing, with bombs.

Koi Pond

Pandora
