Every December, usually right after Christmas, we watch the Lord of the Rings series. It's become a tradition, and takes about a week to get through. It's a great story and the scenery is stunning.
I also like to watch one of the Thin Man movies on New Years Eve - it's a great drinking game trying to keep up with them! That's generally followed by one of the great Humphrey Bogart pictures - The Big Sleep or Casablanca. That last one has to be seen on a big screen to be appreciated. They did a lot of work with shadows.
What else is there to do on long winter nights but enjoy a good movie?
