What are some key contributions that Pythagoras made besides the Pythagorean Theorem?
His contributions to Geometry are well known, but what other branches of mathematics did he contribute to significantly? Are his contributions taught and used today? Give a brief background on the life of Pythagoras.

Pythagoras made many contributions besides the Pythagorean Theorem, although that is by far his most well-know contribution to mathematics. Pythagoras is also “credited with devising the tetractys, the triangular figure of four rows, which add up to the perfect number, ten.” The tetractys represents the four elements and is believed to be influenced by Kabbalah. Perhaps better than that contribution, though, Pythagoras is credited with making the connection between music and mathematics. In fact, he’s often depicted experimenting with bells and hammers. He translated notes into mathematical equations and postulated that string length was mathematically relevant to the note it played.
Beyond mathematics, he was also philosopher and religious founder.
