What are some home remedies for swollen glands?

I woke up with swollen glands two days ago and it is really irritating. What are some home remedies that you have tried, that you know work for swollen glands? My first concern is getting the swelling down.

And PS, I am on antibiotics.

First I'd like to say that I realize you are antibiotic, but for those that might not be: Swollen Glands usually indicate a disease or infection. Anyone with swollen or tender glands or lymph nodes should seek medical attention asap.

I had a problem in my face with an swollen gland. It sure was painful. I didn't use any home remedies to relieve the pain or the swelling, but I probably would have. I just didn't know any exist.

I did find one that is said to work. I have not used it, but the ingredients are natural. I don't feel it can harm you. Of course I think it should be used with doctors care.

Take 1 teaspoon of sea salt and 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Mix it in a glass of water. Drink it to reduce the amount of toxins in your body. It is said to reduce the swelling fast by getting rid of the toxins the bacteria produces. This makes sense because salt is suppose to be cleansing.

It is also said to help by applying lavender or camhorated oil. It needs to be diluted in sunflower oil before applying. You can also use petroleum jelly to dilute the oil.

I am including a link that has more about these remedies and reviews. It's very interesting material.

One of the best natural remedies for swollen glands is CleaversTea and Tincture. Galium Aperine is the Latin name of this amazing lymphatic cleansing herb. It has been used for centuries to relieve the swellings associated with immune disorders. Cleavers can be found in damper areas under large Douglas Firtrees and besides old home steads. It is also found in your health food store either in tincture form or as a dried herb.
It was called Sweet Hearts in the olden days for it sticks to your clothes and can be pressed gently to your shirt as a wearable bouquet.

The Adult dose for the tincture is 1.5 – 2.5mls 3 x a day of a 1:2 tincture.
When making tea, pour freshly boiled water over the fresh or dried herb in a tea pot and let infuse for 5- 10 minutes.
This herb can be taken without side effects and provides a safe, effective powerful action towards healing and cleasning your lymphatic glands.

Gargling with warm salt water is also an age old tip that will kill any germs in the back of your throat.
To your good health!

I also had experienced swollen glands many times already and I know it's really painful. The best remedy that I had was a proper massage. It always works for me though it is also painful. Then after getting a massage, I would take pain reliever. I also have tried applying a hot compress to it so the blood would flow normally again. I avoid cold compress as I feel it just makes the condition much worse. And best of all, I would take the properly prescribed antibiotics so you’re doing it right @ginamichellesattic. Just make sure your doctor prescribes it for you and you don’t self-medicate. Your doctor knows your condition and swollen glands are often due to infections so it should be properly diagnosed. Sometimes, it's caused also by the growth of your wisdom tooth esp. if it's under your jawline so you should not take antibiotics, just safe pain reliever and as I've told, consult your doctor about it.
