What are some great ways of cooking scallops?

Aside from just pan frying, what other ways are there to cook great tasting, fresh scallops? Is it possible to bake, broil or grill scallops without ruining them?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

There are some great ways of cooking scallops, mmng23. I learned a lot about cooking scallops from this article at the Culinate website: http://www.culinate.com/search/q,vt=top,q=scallops/235927.

There is a whole website dedicated to scallop recipes: http://www.scalloprecipes.net/ScallopRecipes.htm.

FishEx is a website that also contains a lot of scallop recipes, including honey broiled scallops and baked scallops, so it can be done! Read more here: http://www.fishex.com/recipes/scallops/scallop-recipes.html.

Scallops also cook up well in soups. Try a cioppino (a seafood stew). There’s a recipe featured on All Recipes that was reviewed 363 times and has a five star rating: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Cioppino/Detail.aspx.

Ceviche is another way to prepare scallops. In essence, the scallops are raw but are cooked by the acid in the lime juice. In this five star ceviche recipe from All Recipes, it is recommended that the salad marinate overnight: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Skeeters-Ceviche/Detail.aspx.

The Food Network has 100 scallop recipes: http://www.foodnetwork.com/topics/scallop/index.html. “We Love Seafood” is a website that has a section on scallop recipes as well: http://www.weloveseafood.com/scallop_recipes.html. And lastly, Food.com has a scallops recipe section that includes broiled, baked, and sautéed scallop recipes: http://www.food.com/recipes/scallops.
