What are some great, inexpensive craft ideas for kids?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Found object sculptures - These are number one in our home. We first go to the park play and find discarded items. We come home and depending on the objects wash them and set them in the middle of the table. and the kids have at it. with a little bit of glue and or string it is amazing what they come up with.

If the man-made Objects are few (which is a great thing) I will switch the project to a nature (natural) sculpture. However, you are not allowed to kill anything to make you sculpture. (no uprooting plants etc.)

There is also recycle bin art. Whatever you can make or use out of there is free game.

Other Inexpensive projects can be found here at the "how to" mahalo pages http://www.mahalo.com/category/crafts-how-tos?all=1 such as:

Have fun!!

A good craft idea for kids is to get them to create an abstract painting like we did in school.

In school, we was learning about paul klee and his artwork. paul klee created abstract painting using simple shapes and lines to create a very complicated painting. we chose two colour paints. i did pink and purple. and you add white to get different tints. first i did all the darkest pink and purple parts i wanted to do then i added white paint to make the colours get lighter and lighter. after i finished, i outlined all the shapes and lines in orange.

its very cheap. all you need is pencils to design it, paint-2 colours of your choice and white paint. click the link below for an example.

Rubber stamping is always great.

Or, sidewalk chalk. I know Crayola has a lot of great sidewalk chalk products that they have come out with!
