What are some good ways to deal with being petite?

I'm female, 5'2, and my height (or lack thereof) has always bothered me.

First, you have to remember that your stature has nothing to do with your intelligence or your ability to command attention. The way you see yourself is not necessarily the way others see you. Confidence is key, because when you feel sure of your abilities, that will directly affect how others feel about you.

The second thing to realize is that your clothing will impact how others see you, no matter how unfair that seems. Get a suit. Be sure the jacket hits no lower than the hipbone, and get the pants hemmed. If you're a woman, wear a heel, but don't rely on the heel alone for confidence. Making sure your clothes fit properly is really all you need to do to be sure that others see the best of you. Have your professional garments tailored professionally.

Forget what randy Newman says, being on the small side has many advantages. Men love a woman they can hold and protect, but don't let that be an invitation for them to take advantage of you. Make sure people see every aspect of you, not just your height. Be strong, confident, and secure and when you're out there doing your thing, forget about size, it doesn't matter.

It's all matter of (self-)confidence. You don't have to *deal* with being petite, you have to *accept* being petite. And when you do, you 'll see that nothing and more specifically none could be able to bother you.

short girls are cuter in my opinion, if height bothers you, wear high heels often.. its is stylish, looks sexy, and makes you look taller, that's what my girlfriend does...

in all honesty, height shouldn't bother you, it doesnt affect a guys opinion of you

you can benefit from being petite in many ways... one is to start taking advantage of clothing. My ex gf is short, and was very skinny/petite... what she would do to keep her finance in good shape was simply look around at the world and take advantage of what others arent. If a woman is wearing a $500 dress, and you come across something very similar to it shopping in a kids store.. by all means, try it on. I understand its a kids store... but still you can find alotta good stuff. I used to get jealous cause she could find awesome jackets from baby gap, while gap never had anything i liked.

jus be confident in anything and everything you do. being petite doesnt mean you have to be uncomfortable with yourself. If being skinny is your main physical irritation, then hit the gym... do some work outs... you dont have to be a everyday goer... jus a few times a week, add some muscle or tone up. just start living your life comfortably and know that just cause your small/petite doesnt mean you cant go after your dreams.

my sister used to be really petite...(not my real sister but practically raised me)... then she went and got a boob job (i know i know... )... it did boost her confidence way up.

Thin is in!...
remember that.

All of these are good answers; thank you for those who contributed. I'm definately not thin, but I'm not heavy. I'm average weight, but short. In fact, being short compounds the problem of weight, because extra weight (which I have to fight) does not sit well on shorter women.
And unfortunately, I've never been able to 'do' heels.

Male perspective: height doesn't really matter, what matters is that you are beautiful and fun. In that order.

It sounds like you don't want to be told that you need to have self confidence..this still doesn't change the fact that you are short..as am I. Make sure all of your friends are the same height as you...this is a relative issue..you are only short relative to whoever you hang out with. on a practical note vertical striped clothing also helps give the illusion that someone is tall and thin.

About the heels--I was never able to 'do' heels until I invested in a pair that actually was well-made and fit me properly. It can be a bit of an upfront investment, but if you take care of the shoes they will last you for years.

This may sound a little new-agey, but think about doing yoga! I've found that after a good yoga session I feel more beautiful and confident than I have all week. It has something to do with the positive vibes that the classmates and teachers give out, yes, but it also has a lot to do with simply making my body go through various movements and admiring how it moves. Even if you're not very flexible (I'm not), the psychological benefits are enormous.

Old guy's opinion.

Size doesn't matter.

Anyone, male or female, who would disparage you because of your stature, either tall or short, is NOT someone you want as a friend.

I'm 6'3" and my wife is 5'2". I *love* "petite" women...

How about seeing the benefits of being "petite"? My height works for me when watching parades. When does it benefit you to be shorter?

Wearing heels just for that is like wearing platform shoes, it only shows that you are embarrased by it and makes the other people think the same.

on the contrary- heels force you to walk with poise and purpose. people recognize and respond to that.

Ideally you'd want/need a shorter spouse. At most 5'9". That's my height! I think it would make it seem like you weren't so short. But really 5'2" isn't incredibly short either! Especially being petite! Some guys like petite! Most importantly you have to accept you for who you are and be thankful for things that you are given in life.

Hi 5'2 and needing to find the positives! Let's stay open to all the fun things people can do that are 5'2. We can take pants that normally fit others like Capris and wear them like full length pants:)

Seriously you must come to peace with who you are and learn to love your height. Look for only the positives and realize that there's a gift of being 5'2. Many taller people have back trouble and tell me they have a hard time finding clothes that fit properly along with feeling gumpy! Look for higher heel shoes if the need becomes really important!

I wouldn't worry about it - I'm tall and used to get hassled for that when I was younger. Best thing to do is not worry about it and enjoy life - life is too short. If people pick you up on it tell them where to go out loud if you want but doing this in your head works just as well.

Well think about how secure your significant other will feel if he is taller than you.
You could find a really nice short guy and he would be so happy and not feel inferior
