What are some good sites to find a comics artist?

I'm looking for a penciller or full artist for a comic I'm writing. I used to follow some of the artist comics communities on the net, but have been out of it for some years, and the old sites I used to see people posting on seem to have died. I have money and will be paying page rates to published artists. I'm willing to go with unpublished artists, too, but would be paying less to them, or giving them a cut of the backend.

The project in question is a closed-ended horror maxi-series told in six-issue arcs. We'll be creating a ten-page sampler first, to shop around to Image, Boom, IDW, and so on. The work in the sampler is also paid.

I'm looking for the best current sites to search for comics artists.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Have you tried to contact - http://www.comic-con.org/cci/ for established work and http://www.zoetrope.com for those trying to get their foot in the door? Good luck.

Try rentacoder, eLance, oDesk and Guru. You can look at a lot of portfolios and invite discovered talent to bid on your project.

I know Jenkins' work well... but I am looking for an artist, and Jenkins is a writer. He is also just under A-list level. We are not going to be able to pay those kinds of rates. Looking for an artist trying to break in, or with just a few projects under his/her belt.

This guys website does not really show off his comic book skills.... but please contact him and ask about his comic skills. I saw a comic book he worked on a while back and it was awesome.
