What are some good Father's Day gift ideas for a dad-to-be?

Tip for best answer: M$2.07
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I'd start with a good digital camera, so he can snap pictures (and/or record) the new arrival! Point and shoot digital cameras are reasonably priced and are simple enough to use almost out of the box. I recommend ones that start around the 7 megapixel range, as I've read reviews that higher than 10 megapixels for a point and shoot don't translate well to the chips used to capture the image.

Cheers!

To be honest, I've never heard of anyone giving Father's Day gifts to a man who is as yet "only" a to-be-Dad.

If the baby is fairly imminent, and it's his first, it's probably going to rather an anxious time as well as an exciting one, and giving them a Father's Day gift might feel too much like counting your chickens before they hatch.

If you did go ahead and get them a gift, I would be inclined to go for something both practical and humorous. For example, a Starbucks gift card to help counter-act the lack of sleep that will soon be coming his way. :)

Newborns do a whole lot of nothing so I'd get a game system for him or at least a nice Best Buy card.

If he enjoys biking, maybe get him that new bicycle he's been eying. Throw in an attachable baby seat so that when the little one arrives, he can share is love of cycling and start building a wonderful relationship. An Earth conscience, fun, and adorable gift.

I would recommend

Hope this helps!

If you know, a simple shirt that says "IT'S A BOY" (a light-blue shirt) or "IT'S A GIRL" (a pink shirt--believe me, he wont care because he'll be focusing his attention elsewhere, or you could get red).

Design it yourself at http://spredshirt.com .

My son is almost six years old and I still wear the plain baby-blue shirt I'd designated as my "It's a Boy" shirt when he was born. (I had a pink one, too, just in case.) It never had any lettering, but I've never gotten another shirt in the same color. We matched in a lot of pictures when I was carrying him around when he was a baby .
