how about instead of a Movie theater taking the kids to live theater most communities have some kind of community theaters.

Are you close to an observatory, or do you have access to a small telescope and a place away from city lights? I am night blind and can't do this, but I have friends that love to set up their telescopes and do some sky gazing with their kids. The miniature golf idea from vbelladonnav is great. Some places have go-carts which are a lot of fun. Minor league baseball is fun, and a lot cheaper. How about rock wall climbing? Is there anywhere that you can swim indoors in a heated pool?
