What are some famous pictures in photography?
Is the Afghan Girl photo captured in 1984 still popular today? Is the Che currently one of the most famous photographs in the World?

In my opinion the most famous photographs are the photographs that had an impact on photography itself or on society in general. You can see most of these images at the link below. One of the most famous is the photo taken by Steve McCurry of the Afghan Girl for National Geographic. This image had a fantastic impact around the world. The picture of Che Guevara in Marxist garb is less famous today than it was in the 1950s
The photography of marines raising the American flag on Iwo Jima in 1945 had such a cultural impact that a monument was created from it in Washington DC. New York fire fighters recreated the moment on 9/11/2001. The portrait of Salvador Dali with cats flying in the background changed the way we think about portraits. Charles Porter’s photograph of the Oklahoma City Bombing is another Pulitzer Prize winning photo that also is world famous. Check out the list of hundreds and make your own decisions on which is the best.
