What are kid-friendly breakfast choices without getting too repetitive?

Pancakes, toast, cereal, french toast sticks, and waffles. It seems breakfast items can get pretty repetitive each week. Do you know of any great breakfast items that kids love that may not have already been mentioned? I am looking for variety here. Thanks.

I know what you mean, it seems like my son eats the same old thing everyday. You can always dress the pancakes up with some different toppings or fresh fruit. I even like apples cooked into the pancakes and omitting the syrup. You could also try muffins or cinnamon toast.

Some other things we eat for breakfast include spaghetti and pizza. I know these are odd choices, but honestly, spaghetti has quite a bit of carbs. I feel it is more of a breakfast food. Crepes filled with fruits, cheeses or meats might also appeal to some children.

Something we really enjoy is yogurt. To make it better than just plain yogurt, we make yogurt parfaits with granola and fresh fruit. We also take bananas and roll them in peanut butter or yogurt and then granola. My son seen that on Blue's Clues and loves it.

We have also grilled peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Something about it being grilled in the morning is awesome. It's much better than it being just straight out of the jar.

Thanks @dtvrivera for asking this question! I feel guilty myself but as an Asian, I'm used to letting my kids eat rice (staple food) every breakfast since they've been able to eat with us. I didn't know I could let them eat lighter breakfasts. This gives me an idea now so here is what I have found with my research.
-quote-
Sunday: Buttermilk pancakes (made with low-fat baking mix), topped with blueberries and sugar-free maple syrup. Glass of milk.*
Monday: Whole-grain cereal such as Cheerios&tm;, milk* with half of a banana sliced on top.
Tuesday: Breakfast Burrito - a warmed flour tortilla filled with scrambled eggs (made with egg substitute and butter-flavored cooking spray), a few shreds of low-fat Monterey Jack cheese, and purchased salsa or taco sauce to taste.
Wednesday: Whole wheat toast spread with peanut butter and topped with thin slices of apple and a glass of milk*.
Thursday: Breakfast Pizza -- whole-grain English muffin, toasted and spread with a spoon of low-fat pizza sauce, and sprinkled with part-skim mozzarella cheese (place in toasted oven or under broiler to melt the cheese) and a glass of milk*.
Friday: Breakfast Smoothie made of milk", low-fat vanilla yogurt, and choice of fresh or unsweetened frozen fruit (berries, peaches, or bananas are great).
Saturday: French Toast (made with egg substitute and whole-grain bread) topped with sugar-free maple syrup, turkey bacon or Canadian bacon, and a bowl of cut-up fresh fruit.
*Endocrinologists suggest milk with different percentages of fat for infants, toddlers, and school-age children. Check with your child's doctor to see if you child should have whole milk, low-fat milk, or skim milk.

There are more recipes that are for kids. Please take time to visit these sites:

You can also experiment on foods. Know if your kids would love the food you are giving to them because like my kids, they wouldn’t eat eggs so it’s a waste of time preparing them. In the given list above too, you can replace the fruits with other fruits in order for their taste buds to get used to all kinds of fruits. I myself am happy that my little daughter can eat any fruit I am giving to her even though it is her first time to have tasted it, she will eat it like she’s used to it.

I found a great recipe for muffins, which kids would probably love. The recipe is from Sunny Anderson of the Food Network. It's an easy recipe to execute, takes only about 2 hours from prep to cooking and ready to serve. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

1 cup strawberries, chopped
1 cup sugar, plus 2 tablespoons
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Pinch ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon salt
1 ripe banana, mashed
2 large eggs
1/4 cup canola oil
1 lemon, zested
1/2 pint blueberries
1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:

Special equipment: muffin tin and muffin liners

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a small bowl, mix together strawberries and 2 tablespoons sugar. Let sit 15 minutes until strawberries give off juices.

In a small bowl, mix together flour, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg and salt.

In a large bowl, whisk together the mashed banana, eggs, oil, 1 cup sugar, strawberries, and lemon zest.

Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined. Do not over mix. Fold in blueberries and walnuts.

Scoop batter evenly into muffin cups. Bake until a toothpick inserted in center of muffin comes out with a few crumbs but not wet, about 30 minutes. Cool on a rack to room temperature

There are quite a few alternatives for healthy fun breakfasts for children which can provide a great variety. Apart from the choices you have already mentioned there is the yogurt option which is not as boring as it seems. Children love mixing and making and dried and fresh fruits can be added into plain yogurts to make them extra tasty. A selection of raisens, saltanas, dried apricots, fresh strawberries, black berries and bananas can be a great choice for children and for younger children, those nice colorful sprinkles (hundreds and thousands) can be sprinkled over the top for added fun and yumminess.

Scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, broiled eggs and shallow fried eggs can be a nice extra combination too.

If you have time in the mornings, it is okay to have cooked breakfasts for children too because they are growing and are about to spend hours at school studying and have no need for the hunger monster to appear. My daughter loves our fresh egg fried rice in the morning and my boy's love my pancakes and eggs but what is even better is the boys sometimes feel like trying to cook their breakfasts themselves and no matter how it turns out, they love it and eat it because they made the effort to prepare their own meal.

An added extra tip that my mother taught me was that if a child finds a food repetitive or boring, is to make the food into a different picture each time. For example if serving pancakes and eggs, get the ketchup and make the pancake the head, use the eggs as eye's and make funny facial expressions with the ketchup.
