What are home remedies for toothache?

Is tooth extraction advisable even when there is still pain? What are other home remedy alternatives aside from lime and onion?

Hello there!

I hope you're not suffering from a toothache, but if you are, there are some home remedies that might help. Toothache pain can be cause either by a cavity, infection of by tooth sensitivity. You could try swishing warm water and salt around you mouth and then spitting it out. Salt is said to reduce bacterial count in an infected tooth, which can reduce pain. Also clove oil can significantly reduce toothache pain as well. If you have ibuprofen or acetaminophen at home, taking them per directions can help too. Ibuprofen is effective for pain and any inflammation that might be associated with the toothache. If your toothache persists, the best solution is to see your dentist to make sure you don't have an infection. Hope you're feeling better!
