What are Folate rich foods ?

i mean where can i get good source of folate rich foods?

You have a wide variety of choices when it comes to finding foods with naturally high levels of folate or folic acid. Leafy greens (turnip, mustard, spinach, chard), asparagus, legumes (beans, lentils), and many bread and pasta products now are fortified with folic acid.

There are quiet a few fruits that have a moderate amount of folates present, such as melons, grapefruit, strawberries) and vegetables like tomatoes, broccoli, and some of the lettuces (romaine, for example).

Additionally, folic acid purchased as a tablet for using as a supplement is very affordable.

Folic acid deficiencies came to major attention a few years ago when a study of women giving birth in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas were having children showing neural tube defects, a symptom of folate deficiency during gestation. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17952264 This is one of the most easily avoidable birth defects around, because folates and folic acid are easy to find and easily used as supplements.

Foods which are rich in Folate (B Vitamin like VItamin B12,thiamin etc) are called Folate rich food.They play an important role in a child's normal growth.
