Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

An ellipsis is a triple dot punctuation mark that we use to signify an incomplete thought, a pause, or a word that’s been left out of an original quote. The word “ellipsis” is derived from the Greek term for “omission.” When used at the end of a sentence, ellipses often convey a sense of sadness, longing or confusion. To read up on the rules for using ellipses, check out the University of South Carolina’s Editorial Style Guide: http://www.sc.edu/webpresence/editorial_guide/punctuation.html, or Portland State University’s Editorial Style Guide: http://www.pdx.edu/ucomm/editorial-style-guide-punctuation-symbols

An ellipsis is a punctuation mark in English. It indicates a pause of some sort. It could mean a pause in thinking or in conversation or even just a period of time that has passed.
For example, “Susan said, ‘I think I’ll go to the store to buy milk and……what else did I need?’” This ellipsis shows that she hesitated as she thought about what goes with milk. (Duh, Susan, COOKIES!) This shows a pause in thinking.
Here’s another one:
Bill said, “That Susan can never make up her mind!”
Mary responded, “Yes, she can act like that sometimes…………..”
Bill replied, “What you don’t agree?”
In this sample, Mary has paused and this means something different to Bill. Because she did not agree with him quickly enough, he thinks that may Mary does not like what Bill said. Perhaps Mary and Susan are friends and she thinks Bill is not happy with her.
