What anime films are recommended for small children?

I received Ponyo the other day from netflix. It was recommended for my queue. My son absolutely adored it. I am not too familiar with many movies in this style that are appropriate for small children. I am afraid I'll goof and get something with violence.

Are there any that are comparable to Ponyo? What anime films do you suggest for younger children about 4 to 6 years of age?

Well, you don't have to go any further than Miyazaki films, do you? Next, I would recommend My Neighbor Totoro. Maybe something like Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke would be too scary for the younger set.

You also have Delivery Service] yes also a Miyazaki Work.

The issue with anime for young children is that not a lot of it is licensed and translated into English. Even if it was translated, it might be foreign to

Take a peek at an anime called Kaasan (mom's life), available on Crunchyroll. It is only translated, and I do not know whether it will be dubbed, or even if it will have a DVD release that's dubbed.

I would definately reccomend Hayao Miyazaki films, as suggested before. As well I would suggest Spirted Away, some action and a touching ending. Absolutely adorable~ Howl's Moving Castle and Castle in the Sky are both very good choices for children, containing nothing raunchy or foul. A film of Miyazaki that I do not believe is suited for a younger child is Grave of the Fireflies. It is beautiful and compelling, but contains a very somber way to it. For an adult it is a good choice and it will captivate into tears. Anyways I hope that helped you and good luck!
