What actor holds the record for most celluloid deaths?
(stage work doesn't count since you can die up to 10 times a week in Hamlet)

There's no count of how many times he's actually died, but apparently he's done nearly a 100 movies and died in most if not all of them! Sometimes he plays several small parts, and dies more than once in the same movie.
He appeared in The Last Samurai, starring Tom Cruise.

Do visit the site and read the comments section... there's many more, such as Di Caprio - he died three times in Titanic, The Departed, and Blood Diamond. And there's the likes of Christopher Lee with 10 consecutive deaths only as Dracula; plus deaths in sagas such as James Bond, Star Wars, Frankenstein, Fu Manchu, several non-continued horror stories (The Terror of the Tongs, The Skull, Dr. Terror, etc)...
Also, Donald Pleasence died at least 18 times:
1. Circus of Horrors (1960) 2. The Great Escape (1963) 3. Fantastic Voyage (1966) 4. Will Penny (1968) 5. Henry VIII and His Six Wives (1973) 6. I Don't Want to Be Born (1975) 7. Deep Cover (1980) 8. The Pumaman (1980) 9. Alone in the Dark (1982) 10. Warrior of the Lost World (1983) 11. Phenomena (1985) 12. Treasure of the Amazon (1985) 13. Specters (1987) 14. River of Death (1989) 15. American Rickshaw (1989) 16. Ten Little Indians (1989) 17. Shadows and Fog (1992) 18. Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)
Whew! That's a lot of deaths... even if they're only n-screen. But the record-holder is probably Seizo Fukumoto. Sample the following:
"Seizo Fukumoto has died 20,000 agonizing deaths. He’s been gored by samurai and gunned down by gangsters. His bloodied body has slammed into trees, tumbled down stairs and crashed through sliding paper-and-wood doors.
As Japan’s top “kirareyaku,” which translates into “sliced-up actor,” Fukumoto dies for a living. When Japanese directors need somebody to kill, he’s the man they call.
“My job is to make the good guy shine,” Fukumoto said in an interview. “The more spectacular my on-screen death, the better he looks.”

M$8 deaths for Basil Rathbone listed here:
http://www.geocities.com/cinemorgue2/basilrathbone.html
There may be more that have been missed?
I know he played many a villain... but didn't he also do a kick-ass job as Sherlock Holmes? He can't ALL bad?! lol!

Now here's quite a site:
http://www.cinemorgue.com/
I counted 17 deaths for Michael Caine, and 24 for Christopher Lee. (25 if you count the Special Edition DVD of Lord of the Rings.)
Alas there's no list of the most frequent diers.
Thanks for the list. I know there seems to be some accuracy issues with this subject. I always thought Michael Cain was up there on the list... also what about Kevin Costner? He hasn't done a million movies, but he seems to die in most of them...
I think I remember him dying in the Last Samurai. That's cool info! Thanks!
It would be interesting to find who holds the spot in Europe, America, Bolywood, or other film markets too!
I wonder if the 20,000 figure for Seizo Fukumoto is right.
He'd have to had died more than twice a day over 40 year career to have achieved that!
There's an intersting list here:
http://www.premiere.com/Feature/Movie-Stars-Who-Die-the-Most
But as per the comments on the article it doesn't seem to be entirely accurate. Going by what it says Robert De Niro has clocked up 14 deaths, but someone in the comments says Christopher Lee has had 26.
Though there are probably some bit part actors that have outdone that.
Will be interesting to see if anyone can dig up anything more definite.
