What a good tips for getting a home ready for an open inspection?
I heard that baking scones before everyone turns up makes buyers think the house is a 'home' because it smells nice....does this really work?

These are some tips I have read online on how to prepare your home for open inspection:
1. Try to hide anything you would not want to see in a "model" home. Be sure to empty trash bins and keep them away from sight.
2. Be sure that your property passes the "smell test" by using many room fresheners that are available today. It would be best to use the plug-in style and place it in an outlet away from sight so this will not be easily noticed.
3. Create an atmosphere or peacefulness. Don't let potential buyers hear the furnace or outdoor traffic. Play music that are soft or instrumental.
4. Double check the banisters, handrails, doorknobs and faucets and see to it that they sparkle. Make the impression that your home is very clean.
5. Leave a decorative treat filled dish for potential buyers which you can fill with different individually wrapped candies. Everyone loves chocolate and it will make potential buyers feel good and remember your property.
6. Be sure that you have cleaned enough. Clean the oven, refrigerators, microwave, dishwasher and everything else. Make sure nothing is overlooked.
7. Check for cobwebs, wash all light fixtures so they will sparkle and appears new, clear any clutter and hide personal items, shampoo the carpets for fresh smell and clean look, organize and clear the clutter from every closet and cabinet, wash windows inside and out paying close attention to window sill and frames, place fresh flowers to the entrance door for a warm welcome.
