What 100 countries was the Kindle Global released for?
And yes I am bitter that it wasn't released in Canada. Bonus tip if anyone can elaborate on why it wasn't released in Canada.
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

It's actually 169. The Kindle blog has a full list here http://blogkindle.com/2009/10/international-release-of-kindle-2/
From the same page here is the list of countries not getting the Kindle, which is shorter.
"Kindle is currently not available in the following countries: Afghanistan, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Burkina Faso, Canada, Chad, China, Cuba, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Gambia, Guinea, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Democratic People’s Republic Of Korea, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Maldives, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, New Zealand, Niger, Nigeria, Oman, Pakistan, Palestinian Territories, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Somalia, Sudan, Syrian Arab Republic, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Yemen."
The Wall Street Journal speculates that it's due to either licensing problems or that Amazon wants a to make a Canadian version of the Kindle instead of selling the international version in Canada.

The wireless connection only works in a 100 countries. Presumably where AT&T has roaming agreements, and/or their partner carriers are ok with the deal.
The 169 seems to be countries to which Amazon will ship the Kindle.
The list is ordered "alphabetically" but for a subtle value of "alphabetical". United Kingdom does not appear under U, but under G (perhaps for Great Britain), while South Africa appears with the Zs.
