We've expanded the Science & Mathematics category on Mahalo Answers. What do you think?

Click through the category and send us some feedback. Are there any major disciplines we missed? We'll be expanding all of our categories in the coming days. You'll soon be able to get very specific with how you categorize your questions.

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

A couple major categories you're missing in the Biology section are Molecular Biology, which would contain all questions about proteins and DNA/RNA and Cell Biology, which would contain all questions about cells, the most popular questions would be probably be regarding cancer or stem cells. Bioinformatics, which is one of the the newest and fastest growing fields and also has the largest representation online also needs a category.

Great suggestions, mrgunn! I ended up deleting the "microbiology" category since it's so closely related to "molecular biology." "Molecular biology" is now a main sub-category under "Biology" and it contains the sub-categories "Cell Biology," "Cloning," "DNA/RNA," and "Genetics." Those last three are also pretty closely related, but I figured there are more questions about genetics that users could ask without being specifically related to DNA or cloning.

I also added an "Evolution" sub-category under "Biology" which had been left out as well.

Thanks, Jonathan. Genetics and Cell biology aren't sub-categories of Molecular biology, though, so they should really be at an equal hierarchy with it, even if molecular biology is a superior discipline. ;-)

I would also add a protein category under molecular, too, since you've got a DNA category.

Fantastic. As time goes on, though, I can see this "browsing for categories" thing becoming a burden. To make things even easier, how about a search box that lets us search for the appropriate category? Instead of clicking Science > Earth Science > Seismology, I could just simply search for
"Seismology" or "earthquakes".

I think it would be helpful to split the mathematica section into two or more sections: one for easier stuff and one for harder stuff and etc.. That way people could answer and post easier.

Cool but I would add Botany to the Biology section.
