I think that he won it not necessarily because he earned in this film, but because hollywood feels they owe him for unrewarded past accomplishments. No matter what some people think of his looks, he is an excellent actor. Yet one thing for sure, his performance in Crazy Heart was superb and he is pretty close to deserving his award.
