Were a lot of people interested in this year's World Series?

Many people wanted to see the Philadelphia Philles and the New York Yankees or least one of those teams. Without either present, it appeared there was a general lack of interest in the series. Were the ratings down for the World Series for this year? Any thoughts on this?

I am a big baseball fan and I didn't watch more than about 5 minutes of the World Series. That could be because I root for the Philadelphia Phillies. But many people I have talked to were not interested this year. People love seeing the big market teams and players. That would have been the case had the Phillies met the New York Yankees for a repeat of the 2009 World Series. Even if one of the two teams had made it to the series, more people would have watched. From what I read, the ratings were way down, perhaps the lowest television rating of any World Series in history. Perhaps it is also because it was not any big market team this year represented. The big market areas are New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Chicago and Boston. I predict that next season at least one of the big market cities will have a representative in the World Series. The Yankees and Red Sox are almost always a favorite and the Phillies should be (barring no injuries) with a starting rotation featuring Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee, Roy Oswalt and Cole Hamels.
