Excerpt from http://www.costofwedding.com/
On average, US couples spend $28,732 for their wedding. However, the majority of couples spend between $14,366 and $35,915 while their wedding budget is typically 50% less than the amount spent. This does not include cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring.

It varies so widely by region that a national average is kinda useless. The average wedding in the Northeast is 4-5 times the cost of the average wedding in the South, for a similar level of service. The linked Q&A article gives perspectives from a broad geographical region.

Leading sources that say it's @ $25k.
I believe that is inflated however since it is averaged out.
If you have 100 weddings and even one of those tops six digits, it can throw the whole 'average' out of whack.
Personally I'd say for a wedding with a reception for 100 including a plated dinner for will set you back @15k depending on location.
Aloha!
