Webcam doesn't work. Is it the wire?

My webcam doesn't work like 70% of the time. At a small movement, it stops and it may get back and so on. Do you think it's the wire?
It's the Microsoft LiveCam .
I had similar problems with a mouse (working on and off)

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

well it is the wire you could just snip the wire add a new usb wire to it and save your self the money, or open it up and just solder the wire to the board

Probably the wire. but before you buy a new one, test it in another port on your pc.

usb cables are ez to fix. i added a good cord on a good mouse with a cheap cord, only the plug end was giving out so i kept as much original crappy cable as possible. but u say u had similar problems with a mouse, if it was in the same port that makes it sound like the usb port could have a loose/semi-broken connection. like the leads touching but broken away from the solder so its unstable, or something like that. the only way to know for sure if it's the cable (besides putting it in a good usb port and moving the wire around) is opening the camera, getting out a multimeter with the continuity tester (preferably one that beepsyou're deaf then find/make one that lights up) and touching each wire at both ends (inside usb plug on one end, where it is soldered to camera on other end) and moving the wire with your third hand to make sure it has a good stable connection.
