If you do the Help has a very useful component and language reference for ActionScript 3.0 (with examples) and programming guide. Also in my source. First things to look up are Sprite, Stage and MouseEvent.
Also the Flash 10 player has very cool new 3D and p2p capabilities.

What are the best tools and methods to start developing flash games?
I have a software development background but would like some more information about some flash toolsets and ways to think through developing a flash game. Books, websites or other resources are welcome.

Do you have Flash CS3 or CS4? If not you can get the free compiler (mxmlc) in the flex sdk. If you do the Help has a very useful component and language reference for ActionScript 3.0 (with examples) and programming guide. Also in my source. First things to look up are Sprite, Stage and MouseEvent.
