I would suggest switch to Adobe Dreamweaver. First of all, it is available for both Macs and PCs, 2nd it is extremely user friendly (and the ability to play with HTML directly makes life easier for hardcore web developers) and 3rd through a school/business, you can get it for a very reasonable price. While you are at it, simply get Adobe Web Premium CS4, which also include flash encoder, photoshop, and much much more.

The simplistic user-interface coupled with some very powerful back-end features, and the built-in FTP client works extremely well. It may be expensive, but CS4 is available via many different deals (student/business etc) - and it is worth having 100%!
When working on other systems I have also used Notepad++ coupled with a few of their extensions (http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm). This also is a brilliant tool for web-authoring, I would recommend it if you're looking for a free alternative to the larger web-authoring packages.

Web Development software?
Who can give me a hands on personal comparison of Expression Web vs Freeway 5 Pro.
I am interested in moving from Windows to Mac but am having a hard time finding an adequate development system that is not prohibitively expensive. I have been using Expression Web since it replaced Front Page.
I want to know how these two systems compare as to:
User interface
Ease of use
Features
Site Management
Keeping up with all the files
Propagating file name changes and folder moves
Master pages
Publishing
FTP to my own host.
I am interested in personal "hands on" experience only.

I have some limited experience of Expression Web, however I must agree with @chn-cs-htg - Dreamweaver continues to be my favourite piece of web-authoring software. I can find updates for around $200 dollars but the complete product is running near $400 even on the discount sites.
As for the price, a typical college or workplace can get the whole suite for about $200; yes it still costs a lot, but things like Photoshop are not toys and are well-worth the price.
With the flash en/decoder that comes with the suite, you can make your website as professional and fancy as your imagination allows.
P.S. I have just checked, it also comes with adobe acrobat professional ($500 stand alone retail, THE pdf maker)
I figured out how to import a complete site or just edit it in place.
BTW, FYI
Freeway 5Pro does not edit or open HTML files. It creates an intermediate code or script that is converted to web pages when the site is published.
