I don't know that presenting ads via Google will be a great monetizing method; Firefox's AdBlock Plus plugin for example can easily block AdSense ads. And as Mike mentions, rehashing existing content through a custom Google search is handy but not hugely appealing.

Maybe see what frequent users of wikipedia say are its shortcomings, then try to implement stuff that defeats these? For example, you could try to find a legal way to display images on your site for those wikipedia topic entries which don't already have images because no one has been able to get one without some copyright or royalties attached.
