It depends on what you are doing. In my experience Drupal has been far "better" for me. I build all kinds of websites using drupal. From simple sites like blogs and portfolios all the way to full scale sites like the nerman museum of contemporary art. What are you wanting to use a CMS for specifically?

Drupal is a more valuable skill in my opinion. But if all you are looking for is something to make one site, maybe joomla would be better. But I would much rather use drupal any day.

I guess it's a matter of which one you like to work with, I personally prefer Joomla, I just feel like it's easier to tweak, and the modules for it are awsome, very clean interface and ease of use, you can see the linked post for more information on this regard. You really should give a try on both and see which one suit your needs.
