You've asked a rancorous question with too many answers. The day doesn't go by that I don't use at least four. Safari/Webkit has unbeatable blazing speed on a Mac. Camino is close. Firefox 3.1 and Safari/Webkit are the only browsers that display the full range of color depth. Webkit (upon which Safari and Chrome are based) is constantly under development. Firefox, of course, is flush with exciting add-ons. Firefox, Safari, Camino, and Opera, all can display web styling properties that Internet Explorer doesn't yet know about. Opera is unique, quick, very advanced, highly researched, and extremely user-friendly. Internet Explorer, of course, is absolutely REQUIRED for maintenance of Windows/Office. Shiira is a nifty little browser for the Mac system. Avant is an interesting build-it-yourself browser for Windows. Chrome provides unique access to the world of Google services.
There's so many browsers out and about, you can find most of them at http://www.evolt.org

I would say that in general Firefox is the best at moment but you might want to keep at hand a few others according to what you need to do:

But now there is also Google's Chrome, which is also a very good browser.

I use IE, Chrome, and Firefox. I like Firefox best because of the way it allows me to send items to friends without a fuss and will remember what I had open last session and reopen those pages. Chrome is quite good once you get used to it. IE is pretty sad. Still, why don't you try all three for yourself?

This is a question that might generate a lot of discussions!I would say that in general Firefox is the best at moment but you might want to keep at hand a few others according to what you need to do:
- for safe browsing i always use Firefox, the overall number of known security flaws, plus the amount of addons that you can use to strengthen security, make Firefox the best choice right now.
- on the go i use opera it's fast and light
- if i need an impeccable rendering of a page i use IE
- when i need to limit the memory usage i choose Chrome

There are several choices of browsers, where the three most well known are Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera. Between these three, I'd choose Firefox, every time again. But now there is also Google's Chrome, which is also a very good browser.
