That will add the main Mahalo search. If you want to add the Mahalo answers, it's quite a bit trickier though. The search plugins are found in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins
I just copied/edited google to make things easy.
<SearchPlugin xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/2006/browser/search/">
<ShortName>Mahalo Answers</ShortName>
<Description>Search Mahalo Answers</Description>
<InputEncoding>UTF-8</InputEncoding>
<Url type="application/x-suggestions+json" method="GET" template="http://www.mahalo.com/answers/search?{searchTerms}" />
<Url type="text/html" method="GET" template="http://www.mahalo.com/answers/search?">
<Param name="q" value="{searchTerms}" />
<Param name="ie" value="utf-8" />
<Param name="oe" value="utf-8" />
<Param name="aq" value="t" />
<!-- Dynamic parameters -->
<Param name="rls" value="{moz:distributionID}:{moz:locale}:{moz:official}" />
<MozParam name="client" condition="defaultEngine" trueValue="firefox-a" falseValue="firefox" />
</Url>
<SearchForm>http://www.mahalo.com/answers/search?</SearchForm>
</SearchPlugin>
Save this into that file with some filename, the name has no effect on functionality(I named mine mahaloanswer.xml). Restart firefox and select. You can now search through Mahalo Answers just like your typing in the search bar.
I still haven't gotten around to making the icon work, I'll figure it out sometime today and post it here as a comment if your interested.
As a side note to the developers...could you PLEASE give me a bit of code in there like
...
that will bust code into a small table so it's easy to distinguish from the rest of the answer...you can even have it preformat text into one of the evenly spaced fonts...or if this is already in here, anyone know how?

How can I get Mahalo to be used in my Firefox search bar?
Google is in the search area by default and I wanted to switch to Mahalo. I clicked on "Manage Search Engines", but Mahalo isn't listed.
Is there a way I can put Mahalo on that list?

You need to do it from the main Mahalo search page as described by lookacleverusername(http://www.mahalo.com/How_To_Add_Mahalo_To_Your_Search_Bar)That will add the main Mahalo search.
