This is not just a problem with your PC. Even I have the same problem. Doing some research on the problem, I found out that its because of a bug in the Youtube page. (It generally crashes on Youtube and other flash sites)
Read up --> http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=941105&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=60
However the problem seems to be there only for the Mozilla Firefox release of 3.0.4 since I never had any problem before.
Downloading the latest version of flash doesn't help either. The problem also does not occur if one uses IE. So my guess is that there is a problem with the Firefox version 3.0.4. Hopefully it should be fixed soon!
There are also other possibilities why Firefox may crash often.
1. Due to faulty plug-ins. You might want to remove plug-ins and see if that helps.
2. Firefox also does not seem to crash if you have enough memory in the system. You might want to consider a RAM update or the memory fix suggested by beltira.
Personally I hope that this bug should be fixed by the next release. There no way I am going to stop using firefox just because of such a minor hitch.
P.S - If you still face problems you can consider downgrading to firefox 2.xx which is pretty stable!

What kind of computer are you using? Does it have enough ram? enough free hard drive space? can you make a new user account and see if the problems persist there?

I did some things mentioned on Lifehacker to fix memory bleeding, and that seems to have fixed the crashing problems, too, come to thing of it. I didn't realize it until I read this thread!

Too many or buggy addons can lead to crashes. Make sure your addons are all up to date and that you only have installed what you absolutely need. If you have an addon that you don't use very often but don't want to get rid of, disable it. Maybe try switching addons for similars one to see if the problems go away.
You can also try reducing the amount of memory that Firefox uses. Firefox is a memory pig and sometimes doesn't free up memory after its done with it. If it runs out of available memory the program will hang. Try the tips listed in this article to reduce the amount of memory firefox uses:
http://acomment.net/8-great-tips-to-reduce-firefox-3-memory-usage/566
Finally, you mentioned in an earlier comment that you "will get these random toolbars installed and it will screw up the whole thing". That sounds to me like you some spyware or adware on your computer. Spyware will definately lead to your computer misbehaving. Download and scan your computer with a program like Spybot and remove anything it finds.

The best way to see if add-ons are making your Firefox unstable is to run Firefox in its safe mode. (This should be listed in the firefox program group)
There are many reasons add-ons could cause firefox to crash, older versions that don't work well with firefox 3, bad programing, or a conflict between 2 or more of the add-ons.
Also, make sure you are using enough RAM for the OS you are running. Vista runs ok with 2GB of ram, and even better with 4. RAM also effects how firefox runs.

You can then click on any of the reports and that will redirect you to that page on the Mozilla site. It will tell you on the "Frames" tab on the new window which thread caused the crash. It might appear a little cryptic, but that is a start on what caused the crash.
Note: They might not have processed your report yet, and it will tell you if they haven't. If I remember correctly though, since you wanted to look at your report, it will be pushed up in the priority queue ahead of others.
There are several of these about pages you can look at. Here are some examples:
about:blank is a plain white window
about:robots added in Firefox 3 for the fun of it
about:config is all the settings in Firefox (BE CAREFUL HERE, IT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS PROBLEMS IF YOU CHANGE THE WRONG THING)

Does Firefox crash a lot for everyone else?
I've been loyal to the fox for a long time but lately it crashes on me several times a day! Why is that?

Firefox was updated to 3.0.5 last week. Perhaps they have fixed this bug in the new release.

I have been a Firefox user for three years, I only get one or two crashes a week. It has been very stable for me, except on days when their are automatic updates. Then it's like taking first steps all over again but it resolves itself in a few hours with a patch.

I have been having trouble with that for about a month. It'll crash several times a day sometimes, but it's been getting better. This site seems to have some answers. I'll have to read into it, too.

I only restart my computer every 2 weeks or so so when firefox crashes I attribute it to having been left open for too long. It doesn't happen often enough to bother me though. What kind of computer are you using? Does it have enough ram? enough free hard drive space? can you make a new user account and see if the problems persist there?

I am running Firefox on three different computers (all macs) and can't remember the last time that it crashed. I'm sure it has but it's so infrequent that I can't tell you the last time. I do run it pretty stripped down, StumbleUpon is my only Add-on I have installed.

Mine's actually crashing less than normal right now. I have the most recent version, and I keep my extensions up to date, too. I have way too many plug-ins, which is why I'm not trying out Chrome. I did some things mentioned on Lifehacker to fix memory bleeding, and that seems to have fixed the crashing problems, too, come to thing of it. I didn't realize it until I read this thread!

Add-ons can make Firefox unstable. (as can viruses and spyware, but I'm hoping you run software such as Avast and Ad-Aware 2008) The best way to see if add-ons are making your Firefox unstable is to run Firefox in its safe mode. (This should be listed in the firefox program group)

If you are using Firefox 3, they added something new to it around this very topic. If you have ever submitted a crash report when it did crash, then you can open "about:crashes" in the address bar without the quotes. You can then click on any of the reports and that will redirect you to that page on the Mozilla site. It will tell you on the "Frames" tab on the new window which thread caused the crash. It might appear a little cryptic, but that is a start on what caused the crash.
