Can anyone help me figure out why I can't load pages in Scribd? I am running latest Flash, on XP, Firefox 3.0.7 and checked antivirus, etc.

It's not a firewall issue, either, because my other computer (Mac) can load it all fine. It's just me, on both Firefox and IE (blecchh). I put www.scribd.com in my exceptions on Avast! Antivirus and Ad Blocker.

I would try downloading/updating Java here: http://java.com/en/

Also in Firefox I would try going to Edit > Preferences > Content... Check to see if JavaScript is enabled....

java is updated and javascript is enabled. I swear I am losing my mind :( (I can't see pages created @wix.com either) but all other Flash apps work just fine!

I'm digging deep for a solution, i'll keep trying.

Does it at least say "Please Wait, Loading" ? Or just blank?

This wouldn't explain why it's not working in IE but do you have any addons enabled in Firefox?

You aren't the only one having problems:

Try this first, it just came to me, get the latest shockwave player from adobe: http://www.adobe.com/products/shockwaveplayer/

Also, if that doesn't work have you tried completely uninstalling Adobe Flash from Add/Remove programs? I would do this and then download them again:

IE: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
(Click on Download Flash Player 10 now on the left)
Firefox: http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer

I've now updated shockwave, java, flash just to be sure. Still nothing.
Disabled Avast, and nothing.
Disabling FF add-ons isn't the issue as this does not work in IE, either.

Did these sites ever work for you? It's not a case that they used to work correct?

I would try clearing your Flash Player cache too. The last two tabs, I would click delete all sites from both tabs.

Hi alyssaf,

Please check your all of the addons installed in Firefox browser. Disable one by one and check the http://www.scribd.com/.

Otherwise please uninstall the Avast antivirus from your PC and check http://www.scribd.com/ again.

If it’s working fine means, do not install Avast. Instead use Quick Heal Total Security 2009 (http://quickheal.co.in/). It is free for 30 days. After 30 days also you can again install in your PC. It has per customized internet security in default. So It won't stop valuable websites.

And no need to add exceptions in Firefox.

Or

Finally Try to install (http://www.apple.com/safari/) Safari 4 Browser in your PC. And then check again. It is 200% faster and security. (http://www.apple.com/safari/download/)

Still you can't get solution means, reply to this answer with correct information. I will give you the solution.

Thanks...

I would have to disagree with your statement that Safari is secure. It is actually one of the easiest browsers to hack.

@orange. We could not conclude "Safari is Unsecured Browser" after reading that article.

Look the features of Safari 4 browser Under Security Tab:
http://www.apple.com/safari/features.html#security

Also read the following article for Apple's Security Updates on Mac OS X.

I know you said it isn't a firewall issue but did you double check to make sure that it is listed as a exception in your Windows Firewall under your control Panel? Sounds like all other possibilities have been tried with no success?

Thanks, one100gs, but Windows Firewall is turned off as we're using the router firewall and those settings are likely ok as scribd works fine on the other computers on the network.
