Highly unlikely.

Not that the Mets are not capable of winning 100 games. They won 89 last year and that was without a healthy closer. I understand the optimism since the team signed Francisco Rodriguez, but the Mets play in a very competitive division. Which includes the defending World Series Champion Phillies. The Florida Marlins are also a young talented team and Atlanta is always tough. Not to mention the Washington Nationals who just signed Adam Dunn.

The only team to win 100 games last year were the Angels and they played in a weak division where no other team finished above .500. Unless the National League East turns into the worst division in baseball I wouldn't count on a 100 win season for the Mets.

I DO expect another competitive season in the NL East. I wouldn't be surprised if the wild card came out of the division as a result. The better question is Do you think the Mets will make the playoffs? My answer would be Yes.

Hi Fred '88 '86 and '69 are the only years the Mets have had 100+ wins.. so 3 out of 46 years = don't bet on it :) http://tr.im/gPmk

During the New York Mets 46 seasons they have only won 100 games 3 times, the last being in 1988.

Last year the Mets had 89 wins. So if you think this years team can get at least 11 more than last years, 100 wins is possible, good luck

In a division like the NL East that has only gotten better since last year, 100 games would be one hell of a feat for any of the teams. If recent trends indicate anything, it's not likely that they will, but who knows?

Then again, I'm a Phillies fan. So I'm inclined to say that the defending champs will bring their new confidence with them this season and win about 140 games. It could totally happen!

As a diehard Mets fan since '86 (nothing to do with their miraculous World Series win, just happens to be the year I was born) I would sure love to see them win over 100, but historical trends seems to lead otherwise. While it certainly could be their year, the Mets have an uncanny ability to blow most of the positive situations they find themselves involved in, ex. grounding into double plays with bases loaded and one out, going on record setting losing streaks to avoid the playoffs. I love the hell out of them and hate them with almost the same amount of intensity. But here's hoping for the best.

They won 89 games with a horrible bullpen last year. this year with the aquisitions of K Rod and JJ Putz they seemingly fixed their weakest link and 100 wins is entirely possible. I'm not saying they will though.

Not a 100 but they're pitching can put them near 90. The NL east is going to beat on each other all season.
