I think it was a very mutual favor. Although Katie Couric no doubt was salivating for that interview for the ratings and status, Sarah Palin had a LOT to gain too.
A casual sit-down interview should've been her wheelhouse where she could reach out to the masses who loved her folksy charm, and she had the spotlight all to herself. That SHOULD have been an 8 minute+ commercial for the McCain/Palin campagin. The networks were handing her the gift of publicity.
Now that the interview was the crowning embarrassment of the McCain/Palin campaign (and arguably led to the tanking of Palin's political career), of course she'd like to spin it as an ambush and a favor.
How else can she spin it? Admit she was a babbling uninformed airhead?
She has to blame everyone else -- McCain's campaign, Couric and staff, everyone BUT Palin.
Just watch again and decide for yourself, do you think this was an ambush? Or do you think Palin just fell apart?:
