Was Obama comparing his bowling to the Special Olympics offensive?

He was not offended. He thought it was funny. I was not offended either. He understands, as do I, that the records and standards for Special Olympic sports are modified compared to those for other sports. So a person CAN set a record bowling 129 in Special Olympics!
I'd rather not take my emotional energy being offended on the behalf of other people, who might or might not be offended. It sounds compassionate, but it's just another condescending way of dictating other peoples' emotions to them.
I should have a new motto: I Am Not A Surrogate Emotion-Wielder.

M$It's like calling someone stupid "retarded."
However, Obama had a minor slip of the tongue that he immediately regretted and apologized--even before the program aired.

M$I think it will be good 50:50 issue with 50% not liking "Obama considering himself to be good enough bowler to participate in special Olympics" - Republicans would love to use this like "Pig and lipstick" statement of Obama.

I think there is a difference between "not being offended by something" and something "being offensive."
Something can be offensive but not offend everyone. I also think the tone and intention can play a part in it.
I agree! My younger sister has spina bifida and when I asked her if Obama's comment bothered her she said no...she too thought it was funny.
