I never like to presume why couples split up, whether I know them personally or they're celebrities constantly in the limelight, which makes people THINK they know them. Only the two people involved in the relationship really know the answer to that unless they both choose to share that information---and, even then, there may be details left out or the two sides of the story won't necessarily mesh.

But to answer your main question--was Jake too old for Taylor? In my opinion, NO. They're both adults, and 8 years or so really isn't that big of a difference. And the older they'd get, the less of a difference it would probably be. That doesn't mean one or the other or both of them weren't uncomfortable with age-related differences, but I sure don't think there's anything wrong with a 29 year-old man dating a 21 year-old woman. Of course, some 21 year-olds are more mature than others and some 29 year-old are less mature than others, so it really depends on the individuals and on the couple.

Celebrities are constantly under a microscope. So those who are at the top of their game, such as Taylor Swift can't enjoy the anonymity of a private life. C. Maybe he has more experience dating than she does and she got into it too much, too soon.

D. Maybe he leaves the seat up too much. Maybe she's a vegetarian and he loves steak.

E. It was two months. That is no time.
I've made almost-full recovery from a stroke in less time than that--and I've done it four times.
Maybe it was only intended to be "Friends with Benefits" and the media inflated it.
Maybe they had nothing in common and it never really was a relationship.
Trying to keep that on the down-low in Entertainment is impossible-news travels quickly.

I'm not saying anything happened between them, because there's not much in that video except that they've broken up. And that's exactly what I'm saying: I wasn't with them for those 8-9 weeks and I haven't yet asked them (or people who know them well enough to say for sure).

Bloginity.com ran a piece regurgitating available information: It says that source for Us Weekly says the answer is "Yes, he was uncomfortable": But it also indicates that my guess was right--and I didn't even begin looking for articles on it until after I typed my answer (but before I clicked on "Submit Your Answer): they don't have much in common, and whatever it was they had, they (or at least he) might have wanted to keep on the DL and he didn't like the attention it was getting:

Every piece has unnamed sources, and that Us Weekly piece is quoted in a bunch of places. .But it doesn't say "One of Jake's friends" or "One of Taylor's friends..." Someone loaded with unsubstantiated gossip, standing around the water cooler in US Weekly's offices, could have been the source.

Until that age-difference rumor is confirmed directly by Tay-Jay, there is no way to know for sure.

I don't think their age difference was that much of a factor in their break-up. If you think about it, age is just a number. People attribute a stereotypical behaviors to an age group, but in reality, many people don't "act their age" for better or for worse. So to answer your question, I believe people wrongly blame the age difference rather than the true culprit: incompatibility.

Maybe it has to do with the differences in maturity, life experience, etc.. that sometimes come with age difference. Maybe not.

I think they just had a falling out. No one can really give you a 'more correct' answer since we don't know them personally.

Many people say that women mature faster than men so if this is true than she was as mature as he is or very close. Also in a lot of Latin countries it is not uncommon to see a twenty year age difference. During the middle ages there were men in their thirties marring girls as young as twelve (I personally find that disturbing). Many younger women actively seek out old men for a variety of reasons and the same goes for men dating younger women.

My point is that as long as to consenting adults want to hang out with each other and date than that is purely their business.

Jake was too old and he knew it. He had his taste of dating a young girl prior to hitting the real mid life crisis age of "30 years old". His only mistake was not dumping her before Christmas. She must of cost him a pretty penny. At least he did not have to endure the New Years Eve "Empty Kiss" and he saved a few bucks on Valentines Day. So overall he came out on the plus side of things.
