I think that a good boss increases the visibility and profitability of his company. On that level, George Steinbrenner was certainly a good boss. The Yankees are the most profitable club in Major League Baseball and a lot of that has to do with the way Steinbrenner marketed the team. On the other hand, a bad boss (in my opinion) makes unwise business decisions, particularly by not consulting his staff before doing so. George Steinbrenner also did that frequently. I'm sure the team would have benefited from him showing a little more restraint when it came to the annual payroll. But, overall, I think he did a good job.
