Wanting to know what would be the cheapest way to ship small items through the mail internationally. Any ideas?

So my wife and I are trying to open a online store selling Japanese goods. Mostly snacks and other light weight items. On average 100 grams or less. Anyone have any advice on how to make this happen as cheap as possible because the cheapest I have found it $12.50 seems high for such a small item. Please help. Oh hoping to sale most of my items to the U.S..
Tip for best answer: M$2.00

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If I am reading correctly, you are shipping from Japan to the US so UPS, FedEx, and other private mail services would be your best bet. Another resource to check would be EMS courier service. Not sure if this helps but it's a start. UPS has an online calculator to let you know just how much the shipping charges will be and the shipping time as well.

you can ship them first class international through usps.. just fill out a international form and the shipment shouldnt cost you more then 4 or 5 dollars.. I would say that is a savings to what you quoted above...

USPS offers a ship anywhere box, where one can put as much stuff into the box and ship it anywhere in the world for a flat price.

For example: the box costs $10... filling the box with lead and sending it to China is the same price as sending the box empty to your neighbor.
