M$I pressed the button . Do I get the boobie prize :P ?
In any event , If I could make a humble suggestion, If you could also put A small section in your guide about how to properly backup your important documents and files, And also make sure to _De-Crypt_ documents and files BEFORE they are backed up. It would be helpful ; I'm certain for some.
This happened to me once with EFS and it was devastating.
All my backed up files were worthless because XP had EFS turned ON for my entire hard drive =(
Humble Regards,
@XDS

M$Good tip with the de-crypt, xds. I'm actually building a couple of related pages much like How To Back Up Your Computer Hard Drive. I'll think about how best to approach a cryptography one.
Thanks a lot for helping me out!!

I'm not a Twit, so I don't Tweet, but I gave it a shot, anyway.
Useless effort for the cause.

You rock! I just sent you a tip for being first.
Thanks Buddawiggi!
I'll send out a couple of other random tips to folks who help out here too!!!!
Jason used his CEO super powers yesterday on TWiST to get the feature added. I'm interested to see if it'll help.
That is a cool new feature I just discovered it yesterday.. Sweet tweet.

M$You think I'm going to tweet when I'll only be #8? :)
A wee problem with the this game design, no one who wants to win will go until it's got to the high 40s, but it'll never get to the high 40s because no one wants to go first.
Unless of course people either a) don't get this or b) altruistically sacrifice their chance of winning to make the thing work.
True I am quite altruistic. :)
But also a cunning strategist. :)
Oh all right then. Just because it's you Rob.
Done!
But what is tweetmeme?

M$Oh, and if you tweet right now, I'm sending out random tips to people who participate :)
Ah, but people that altruistic don't like to spam.
And people that are cunning strategists don't like to damage their brand. :)
Btw, it would be great if we had this feature on questions too.
I just tweeted my soccer question, but the tweet link is well hidden and doesn't do any automatic URL shortening, so it's a pain, and it fact easier to do using bit.ly and forget about the Mahalo link completely.
But I do notice anytime I tweet with a link, I typically get 5-10 people clicking through within minutes.
Of course, I only tweet interesting stuff. :)
Dear Mr. Altruistic,
Thank-you :)
Nothing saying that you can't be #8 _and_ #50!
Your twitter follower list is big enough you could change the words up a bit and tweet this at least twice :)

M$So I followed the instructions and tweeted your page, but the tweet count right above the button stayed at 4. Shouldn't it go up to 5 after I tweeted it? Or is the a large delay for some reason?

is this a browser issue? right now I am using a pc with ie6 since I am on travel.
It should... not sure why it didn't for you Matt. Thanks for the tweet anyway. If you repeat the steps again later to get close to #50, the winning click, let me know with a comment here so that I can have a close look.
Thanks again!

M$I'd like to see that retweet button at the "top" of the page rather than the bottom of it. I'm just thinking that it would probably be more effective at the top.
Retweet is a GREAT addition... good job I retweeted @allcore_tech (and bookmarked your page to come back to it!) Tks...

M$I don't think protected updates show up in twitter search, so does that mean that they don't count?
Darn. Guess I'll have to wait for the number to climb a bit before I get number 50 :)
Yes, it would be :)
To be fair, I'm counting using the Twitter Search: http://twitter.com/#search?q=http%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2FsByB3
As 50 approaches, there is going to be a burst of tweets, I predict!

M$Thank-you for your detailed look at the page, Aleghart. When read as wrote, your reply sounds like you're simply trying to find fault with the page. However, when I take a step back and consider your technical points, you may be correct.
ANY how-to can be improved. It may be more appropriate to send a direct question about these types of corrections rather than to "call me out", but feedback is feedback and I'll happily accept it.
I notice that you're not managing any pages. If you do take on page management rather than just critiquing others, please let me know. I would be happy to lend my experience and expertise to review a page of yours in return of your help with mine here!
Thanks again!
Thanks for the tip! I had forgotten the "Ask privately" option existed.
I'll stick it in a PM next time.
As for managing the page...now you're asking for actual work and responsibility? Not allowed to hide in the peanut gallery, huh?
Let me read about this new-fangled "Page Management" thing, and I'll get back to you.
How about this...
I'll give you the page if you make all of the corrections that you outlined.
Reply back here or send @robbrown a direct question if you're up to it.

M$I'm guessing, tho, it's going to be a while before person #50 will come to pass, unless i alienated all my friends and tweeted 40+ times -- ha ha
Actually, to retweet something that's out of context for me would be considered spam-tweeting by my friends, so while i appreciate your enthusiasm for this, I'm going to hold back on this one.
P. S. That page is IMPOSSIBLE for someone on dialup. I've been really pleased with loadtimes in general for this website, but that was one of the worst i've experienced yet.
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.
M$I'm running an aircard connection (not much better than dialup - though I prefer not to think about it) and didn't have much trouble loading the page. I have actually found the load time for the entire site while connected via aircard to be pretty slow overall but I chalk it up to my "I want it and I want it NOW" frame of mind.
The page has 1 youtube video embeded on it. Usually, the invocation code of 1 video does not significantly decrease the load time of a page. The rest of the page is simple text and light graphics that you likely have cached locally. This leads me to believe that there is either something up with your connection (perhaps your DNS servers) or Mahalo's CDN to your particular location.
Regarding the amount of time it'll take to reach #50... tweet a couple of times or ask your friends to Tweet and this could be done today!!!!!! Context is defined by what you say and how you say it.

Thank you :) I LOVED winning this contest. You make Mahalo so interesting and fun.
