Visual Basic 6.0 Or Visual Basic .NET?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

It depends on what you're trying to do. VB.net is much more versatile and easy to use for most project, and unless there is a legacy program that requires VB6, I would definitely check out VB.net. The tools are much more robust and there is a lot more support in the programming community as well.

IMO, really depends on your immediate needs. For me, I spend my days in MS Access and Excel. Learning .NET will do me no good (and probably just confuse me). Yes, MS wants everyone to move from VBA/VB6 to .NET. And I'll happily do just that.....as soon as Office 2003 supports it. (Meaning, never). If my employer decides to move into the 21st century and use the web browser as a front end to the billion little databases we have, I'll move right into .NET. For now, VBA/VB6 is my money maker.

Visual Basic .NET.
As I remember, Microsoft already stopped support for VB 6.0?

I have used and still use both. They are similar but .NET is More than just a version upgrade. Unless you already have VB6, forget it and go to .NET.

If you already have VB6 and are happy with it and it does everything you need, keep it.
