The Williamsburg Lodge is currently offering a special package for a 4 night/5 day vacation for four people. It's a day short of the trip you want, but you could always tack on an extra one and still reap the benefits of the package.

The offer is valid from May 31, 2009 through September 3, 2009. For a Sunday or Monday arrival, the total cost is $599+tax. For stays involving Friday or Saturday, it will cost between $649 and $698 +tax.

The Sumer Saver package includes:

---quote---
* Four nights accommodations in a standard room (two double beds) at the Williamsburg Woodlands Hotel & Suites, an official Colonial Williamsburg hotel located at the Visitor Center gateway to the Historic Area

* Daily enhanced continental breakfast in the hotel

* Length-of-stay Colonial Williamsburg admission passes (a $165 equivalent retail value) providing unlimited come-and-go access during regular operating hours to:
- Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area, including all exhibit sites
- Revolutionary City®
- The indoor museums: DeWitt Wallace Decorative Arts Museum, Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Museum, and Bassett Hall

* Theater viewing of Williamsburg — The Story of a Patriot, the longest running motion picture in America

* 25% discount on Colonial Evening Program tickets

* A $200 “resort credit”which may be applied toward meals in any of the Colonial Williamsburg restaurants or taverns, golf at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club, services at The Spa of Colonial Williamsburg, or other resort recreational fees.

* Free parking

The Revolutionary City sounds like a blast to me, regardless of whether you go with the summer saver package. It's a two hour event and, as the official site says, it is "family-friendly, live, dramatic program that breaks the boundaries of traditional living history experiences".

You might also consider Haunted Dinner Theatre, which features a buffet (great if your kids are picky eaters). The show, dubbed "Ghostbashers", is a spoof of the movie Ghostbusters. I loved Ghostbusters when I was a kid, and I still find it funny as an adult. The prices for the show are:

Adult: $44.50 ($4 online discount)
12&under: $28.95
4&under: Free

There is an interactive map of the Williamsburg at http://www.history.org/visit/tourTheTown/flash.cfm. On the right, click "Take a Tour" and the options will show you locations that are of interest to children, museums, dining, etc.

Thanks for digging in and providing details. I had seen the Summer Saver, but the info on the Haunted Theatre and insight on the Revolutionary City were helpful, thanks.

This tripadvisor website has everything you ask for. They have well-used forums that talk about each destination and the hotels/resorts in it. Just follow that link and look to the left sidebar all of those things (things to do, forums, etc). It is a little cluttered with adds unfortunately, but the amount of, and quality of information available isn't matched anywhere else that I've seen. I use it to plan all of my vacations and my wife has been pleased each time.

Hi, Thanks for your answer, I've done some research on tripadvisor but was looking for responses here (on MA) with specific suggestions or unique links beyond some of the more typical trip planning sites. Thanks again. If you have anything you wish to add to improve your answer, feel free. Thanks again.

Aside from all the historic Williamsburg stuff, Busch Gardens is right there as well:
