Hmm... this is a toughy.
I think that iTunes subscribers and YouTube subscribers are different people. An iTunes subscriber may not subscribe to your YouTube channel. In the short term, I think that you will loose viewers rather than gain YouTube viewers. There is something inside of me saying that the more places TWiYT is available, the better the show will do.
Since you've already pulled iTunes, stick to your decision but review your analytics.
1)
Based on the history of the show, project how many subscribers you would have had if you left both iTunes and Youtube options open.
2)
In a month, review how many subscribers you have. If the number is higher than your projection above, subtract the number of previous iTunes subscribers you had from your projected number. This will be approximately the number of people who migrated from iTunes to Youtube subscriptions.
If you're happy with that number, you made the right decision.
3)
If people did not migrate from iTunes to Youtube or your current subscription number is below your projection (number 1), then start putting the show on iTunes again and maybe promote your "triumphant return to iTunes" in iTunes only podcasts to push that number up a little bit.
Last, a couple of ideas about this:
Create a commercial for TWIYT. Short, punchy, lively, funny. Less than 30 seconds. Have this commercial placed everywhere you can - I'd be willing to bet a couple of well known bloggers would link to a funny commercial to help you out. Regardless of short term gain, a look back at the shows funniest moments would make subscribing to the show more attractive.
Selling out to Disney jokes aside... Have you thought about selling a pre-roll, post-roll or in-show sponsorships? Sponsorships don't have to get in the way. How about a sponsorship from BustedTee's or another clothing provider? Better yet, how about a sponsorship from a well known hair boutique?
Beyond commercials and sponsorships, I think that you have a funny show. I find it entertaining. I don't think that enough people are talking about it. A quick couple of searches online show a moderate amount of conversation. Is there anything that the show can do to generate some sort of scandal or buzz? Sort of like telling Apple fanboys to F-off, but in a different way?

In iTunes just click on Advanced>Subscribe to Podcast. Then for URL enter http://www.mahalodaily.com/feed/ and voila!
Because this workaround will always exist, my opinion is that keeping TWIYT out of iTunes only hurts the viewers not technically savvy enough to know how to do this. Increase the eyeballs! Publish TWIYT everywhere you can!

Maybe you should have it available on iTunes, but lag it by a week. That way viewers would need to go to YouTube if they wanted the current week's show, but would be able to view prior weeks using iTunes.

I think @ssmacd had a good idea about delaying the iTunes release, so the people who are actually making a choice between watching it on YouTube vs. through iTunes would be encouraged to go to YouTube; and let the iTunes users know "hey you could be watching this a week earlier if you went to YouTube!"
You might also want to consider making content available through YouTube that isn't available on iTunes, or even editing the iTunes version down to a 2 minute "promo" version, letting viewers know that they can head to YouTube to see the full version.

P.S. I love Susan's idea!

This week's example? Two days ago I mentioned to my family that all my Facebook friends seem to be playing this Farm game, and two days later I read that someone has a succesful Mahalo page about it. My friends and I are all 50 or older, not exactly the age group you would expect to catch on with silly games, but we have.
There may be a show, service or product that could be marketed to iTunes in addition to TWIYT.

Should we make "This Week in YouTube" available on both YouTube and iTunes?
We decided to pull the show from iTunes and focus just on the YouTube audience for a couple of reasons:
(1) We only make money on YouTube, not iTunes. The more people who watch the show on YouTube, the more people see/click ads, and the more revenue we bring in to keep making more shows.
(2) Growing our YouTube audience pays off exponentially. The more viewers we get there, the more popular our videos become, the higher they climb in YouTube's rankings and searches, the more new viewers they attract. That's how shows become juggernauts on YouTube...the traffic snowballs once it gets going. iTunes...not as much. Or at least, we've never seen that same effect on iTunes, where our subscription rate didn't ever skyrocket despite getting featured on the front page occasionally.
(3) The show is about YouTube and is designed for a YouTube audience. It just makes a certain amount of sense to make it available primarily on YouTube.
But now I'm getting a lot of feedback from iTunes viewers who really preferred watching it there, as they would any other podcast, and I'm starting to second-guess our decision. I don't want anyone to NOT get to see our show because they refuse to go to YouTube and want it on the phones or iPods.
So what do you all think? Should we keep the show on YouTube, where we want it, or open it up and let more potential viewers enjoy it in the format they prefer?

Absolutely....if it is not on iTunes you are missing the opportunity to get noticed by all of the users that enjoy podcasts. Personally I dont use YouTube but I do subscribe to a lot of video podcasts which I view on my iPhone when I have a moment to spare.. Especially when I am not on Mahalo answering questions. :)

First of all, LOVE the show. Second, anyone who still wants the show in iTunes can always manually add the feed. In iTunes just click on Advanced>Subscribe to Podcast. Then for URL enter http://www.mahalodaily.com/feed/ and voila!

This is a good point. I certainly don't want to be seen as penalizing folks who aren't savvy enough to just grab the show themselves.

I can certainly understand the reasoning behind the decision, but at the very least, there should have been a final episode sent out over itunes notifying all your subscribers that the feed was being moved or discontinued. In fact, it should still be done even now, as there are probably still people wondering about it.
Secondly, when sending out that final podcast, you can offer them the suggestion posted above for manually adding the feed back into itunes if they so choose. Feel free to promote the youtube channel and the benefits you get from them going there to view it though.
Personally, I'm not much of a fan of youtube because i have to stare at the most inane comments on there. I've never seen a more caustic and frankly unintelligent base of users commenting than on youtube. That's not to say there aren't plenty of intelligent people watching and not commenting, but I don't find it enjoyable to view yours or most other peoples' content from that site if I can help it.
That being said, I see no real issue with a later release schedule on itunes. If I want my content fed to me instead of seeking it out, I simply consume it as it comes along, and wouldn't complain about it being a few days later than the release date. I just want to know that it's coming -at some point-.
Thanks for the update and request for feedback. And keep up the good work on the show. You and Shira are great.

If having it on iTunes would pull viewers from YouTube, then maybe it's better to leave it off-- however, I would thing that iTunes would expand the audience in total, so would probably be a good thing. Maybe you should have it available on iTunes, but lag it by a week. That way viewers would need to go to YouTube if they wanted the current week's show, but would be able to view prior weeks using iTunes.

As a general rule, I'd say the more outlets available the better. It's hard to say if the iTunes audience is cannibalizing the YouTube audience, but I'd guess that the advantage of having the potential audience of iTunes outweighs impact of those people not watching it on YouTube. I think @ssmacd had a good idea about delaying the iTunes release, so the people who are actually making a choice between watching it on YouTube vs. through iTunes would be encouraged to go to YouTube; and let the iTunes users know "hey you could be watching this a week earlier if you went to YouTube!"

I was one of the early iTunes viewers, mainly because I watch videos when I am at the doctor, sitting at the bank, etc. But after a while, it became easier to watch them when they are emailed to me. I rarely just go to YouTube to watch videos. But that may be my age or lack of time to just play. So long story short, my choice would be on both, but I understand monetizing the show. P.S. I love Susan's idea!

I don't have much to add except something that is probably already in mind. Stick to the decision but continue to monitor it. Things change really fast. This week's example? Yes, I am sure I would be able to view it better on youtube than on the site, cause of computer issues. I normally have no problems with youtube videos.. on one of the computers I use.. not sure about itunes I never tried that. But the more mediums you have them available through usually the easier it is for people to access them on what works best for their computer systems. If itunes have an embing option just emb them onto a site and put google adsense on the page that will work to help you earn money or see if anyone will pay you to put their ads right into the video itself.. and add them with windows movie maker program or something.. - DNatureofDTrain
