How do I replace my low resolution videos on YouTube with ones in HD w/o losing comments? What is 2nd best video posting site?

I have been posting video to YouTube for two years now. I would like to substitute all my low resolution ones with the higher resolution HD format. How can I do this without losing the comment sections? One is to just repost under a slight different name, but then there is the duplicate, and it is the same video, and then comments would start to accrue to two different ones. Or can I post to an entirely different video hosting site. Is this better, and what does anyone recommend? Where would I post a question like this so that YouTube gets the message. I've tried, but no response. I have suggested that YouTube have a user installable button (or it could be the HD button already underneath the video) that one could upload the video to and link to this button. If the user uploads a different video, then either it would be flagged by the community, or detected using some kind pattern recognition technology. Since it is in the same format and aspect ratio, perhaps it could even be overlayed on top of the old video to increase the resolution. Any strategies on how to handle this problem?

Sorry this has been a problem for a long time.

There is no way to uploaded a higher quality file on an old youtube video page.

There is no possible way to keep the comments.

You have to just upload a brand new video.

To make it allow the play in HD button.
You can upload a video in 720p HD video using H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec in 1280×720 resolution with high-quality AAC two audio channels stereo sound.

What you could do is upload the newer higher quality video and post annotations on the old video promoting the higher quality one.
Its the only way.

• However, I still think a workaround is possible to save the comments, as I suggested. I want to know who to contact about this.

I posted a video that has over 2.6 million views and over 1500 comments.
I really wanted to keep them when the higher quality ability came out but when I contacted Youtube they said there is no way around it.

I don't post to you tube, so I really can't address the first question.

For the second one I would say Veoh.com I know some who like veoh better then youtube as veoh will allow for NSFW
