1. Between Gears of War 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, both very strong contenders for the 2008 Game of the Year.

Ultimately there can only be one "Game of the Year" winner and I'm still deciding on what that game will be. However, I am leaning towards Gears of War 2, BUT, Metal Gear Solid 4 was such a great game, I just don't know. (lol) - Too many great games came out this year, will be very hard to decide.
Asker's Rating:
• I hate to pick Evan, as he works here, but none of the others seemed to stand out enough for me to choose them.

Checkers was ported to PC game format as early as the '50s, and it's also an awful game, so no.

Checkers is a classic board adventure that will be around until the death of the nation

Little Big Planet. I still haven't played it, but it seems to have opened up a whole new world of user-created content for consoles. It has changed the relationship of players to games.

Little Big Planet;
the simple aspect of going from left to right has never been so fun,
and the level creator has never been done so nice before,
it is truly a new type of game

I am having a hard time picking between Fallout 3 and GTA IV, I have put hundreds of hours (just the first play through Fallout 3 was 97 hours and I loved every minute) on both games.
